Mayor Bill de Blasio today ripped what he described as divisive press coverage of protests against police in recent weeks—saying the vast majority of protesters had not said negative things about the police.
“There are some people who do that. It’s wrong. It’s wrong. They shouldn’t do that. It’s immoral, it’s wrong, it’s nasty, it’s negative – they should not do that, but they, my friend, are not the majority. Stop portraying them as the majority,” Mr. de Blasio told a reporter today during a press briefing at 1 Police Plaza.
