By: Nekoro Gomes Bill Manny, who has served as Boise editor and metro editor of The Idaho Statesman since 2000, was named managing editor on Friday by Executive Editor Vicki Gowler.
Manny, 47, will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of The Statesman's newsroom and will report to Gowler.
He replaces Cherrill Crosby, who resigned last month to take a job at the Arizona Republic in Phoenix.
Raised in Pendleton, Ore., Manny graduated from Blue Mountain Community College and the University of Oregon.
He had been a reporter, editorial page editor, and city editor at the Mail Tribune in Medford, Ore., before joining The Statesman newsroom staff. He also spent four years as a Washington, D.C., correspondent for Ottaway Newspapers, the company that owns the Mail Tribune.
