By: E&P Staff The Feb. 10 action by black cartoonists was discussed today on "The Feed" blog of St. Petersburg Times TV/media critic Eric Deggans.
Deggans wrote, among other things: "I believe these cartoonists are actually canaries in the coal mine, reflecting more intensely a difficulty to break new talent which affects the entire comics industry."
On Feb. 10, at least eight African-American cartoonists will draw similar comics to satirize the way many newspaper editors think their comics are "interchangeable" -- even though strips by black cartoonists are as different from each other as strips by white cartoonists.
