Bloomberg New Voices launches initiative in Frankfurt

Bloomberg celebrated the expansion of its New Voices initiative to Frankfurt with an event held at Bloomberg’s Frankfurt bureau on Thursday evening. Frankfurt is now the 15th New Voices city, joining London, New York, San Francisco, Dubai and many more.

During the event, Bloomberg TV anchor Anna Edwards moderated conversations with DZ Bank Board Member and New Voices alumni Souad Benkredda, and Siemens Energy AG Chief Financial Officer ‌Maria Ferraro.

The event also featured remarks from Jacqueline Simmons, senior executive editor for EMEA at Bloomberg News; Christoph Rauwald, Bloomberg News German bureau chief; Chad Thomas, Western Europe & Nordics executive editor at Bloomberg News; and New Voices Founder Laura Zelenko.

Speaking at the event, Zelenko said, “I am so proud to launch our New Voices media training initiative for senior women in finance in this key European banking center. As journalists, we can do a better job of amplifying the views of female expert sources in Germany. In turn, as we have seen in other places, that hopefully can have a knock-on effect of helping elevate even more women in Germany, where there’s just one female CEO among the DAX-40.”

The New Voices program was launched in 2018 with the aim of increasing the representation of women and other under-represented expert sources across media platforms. The program sponsors intensive media training to business and finance executives around the world, and has more than tripled the representation of female guests on Bloomberg Television since its inception.

More than 500 executives globally have participated in the program, and the initiative has also expanded Bloomberg’s global database of female experts in business and finance to over 8,500.
