By: The Honolulu Advertiser says ten of its employees are being laid off and 41 others have accepted voluntary buyouts.
The announcement brings to 132 the number of positions the state's largest newspaper has eliminated since July.
Earlier this week, the Advertiser's owner -- Gannett Company, the nation's largest newspaper company, began implementing a 10 percent workforce cut in response to declining revenue.
Advertiser Publisher Lee Webber says the reductions stem from "continued deterioration in local, national and world economic conditions.''
He said in an e-mail to the staff that he's confident they will continue to work together, changing when, where and as they must to ensure their future.
