Bluebonnet Buys 'Diboll Free Press'

By: E&P Staff Bluebonnet Publishing has purchased the Diboll (Texas) Free Press from Granite Publishing Partners. Terms of the deal, brokered by W.B. Grimes & Co., were not disclosed.

Bluebonnet also owns the Kilgore (Texas) News Herald and three weeklies.

Granite President Rick Reynolds said in a statement: "We are glad to see a well-established newspaper company and its managing partner Bill Woodall take over the Diboll Free Press. Bill comes from a newspaper family well rooted in east Texas and we're excited about the opportunities this acquisition provides Bill, his company, and the Diboll community."

The current staff will stay with the Diboll Free Press though Publisher Lois Cooper is leaving the paper.
