Book Slams Government's Treatment Of Vets

By: E&P Staff Former columnist Rick Anderson has written "Home Front: The Government's War on Soldiers."

The Clarity Press-published book discusses the huge number of military veterans who became sick and disabled after serving in the 1991 Gulf War and the current Iraq conflict -- and the U.S. government's inadequate response to these casualties.

King Features Syndicate columnist David Hackworth, a former Army colonel, said of Anderson's book: "Use 'em, abuse 'em, and lose 'em. This has been the U.S. military mantra since George Washington slapped on a pair of boots. This brilliant work documents it all. A searing condemnation of an ungrateful nation."

Anderson is a former columnist for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Seattle Times. He's also been a San Francisco Chronicle staffer and written for The Christian Science Monitor, Village Voice, and other outlets.
