BOSTON GLOBE ADDS ONLINE PROGRAM FOR SUBSCRIBERS

The Boston Globe yesterday launched a new online program that gives its home delivery
subscribers additional benefits.

The Globextra program combines free access to the paper's archives, a Transmedia Card for
discounts at area restaurants, discounts at the Globe's retail store, a Globextra
newsletter, and online account management of subscriptions.

Providing print subscribers with free access to online archives is a growing trend among
newspapers. Globextra has given the paper's seven-day subscribers free access to a maximum
of 20 stories per month as long as they're for personal use only.

Globextra does require users to log-in to the site with a password.
