By: Staff Reports 'Globe South,' 'Travel' To Appear This Fall
The Boston Globe continues to expand into the suburbs with a Globe South weekday section scheduled to appear on Sept. 6.
The new stand-alone section will appear every Thursday and Sunday. Boston.com also will have a special Globe South online section. The paper already publishes Globe West, which in targeting the western suburbs attracted 144 new advertisers and generated an additional 10,900 advertising inches, according to the company.
The Globe, owned by The New York Times Co., also plans to launch a new travel section on Oct. 7. The new section will appear as part of the Boston Sunday Globe as well as be distributed in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, another Times Co. property.
The extended distribution for the new "Travel" section will reach a total of 2.1 million readers, according to the Globe.
