'Boston Globe' Announces New Executive Appointments

By: E&P Staff The Boston Globe has announced several new appointments, promotions, and redistributed responsibilities among its top executives, effective Jan. 1.

Lisa DeSisto has been named chief advertising officer, overseeing all print and digital advertising, and general manager of Boston.com. DeSisto most recently was vice president of advertising and the Web site?s interim general manager.

Robert Powers, currently vice president/marketing and communications, also will temporarily oversee advertising sales development, working with DeSisto. In that capacity, he will be responsible for supporting product-integration efforts and coordinating marketing functions.

Circ director Peter Doucette has been promoted to executive director of circulation sales, adding circulation customer service to his current responsibilities.

Chief Financial Officer Christopher Pircio will also serve as vice president of operations, overseeing production, advertising operations, circulation operations and delivery.

Wade Sendall has been appointed vice president of information technology, responsible for technology operations across the New England Media Group which includes the Globe and the Worcester (Mass.) Telegram & Gazette. He most recently served as executive director of information technology.

Christopher Hall, who most recently was vice president of human resources, has been named vice president of human resources and labor relations, assuming labor relations duties from senior vice president Gregory L. Thornton, who is retiring.

In addition, Globe Editor Martin Baron will be tasked to lead print and digital product strategies that seek to broaden the company?s audience through the efforts of the news side.
