By: Joe Strupp This weekend, The Boston Globe will feature a commemorative issue of its Sunday magazine dedicated to the 2004 World Series champion Red Sox.
This special edition features various viewpoints on the Red Sox's first World Series victory in 86 years, including pieces by Doris Kearns Goodwin, Conan O'Brien, and David Halberstam.
The stories will be run with never-before-published photos taken behind the scenes, editors said. The Red Sox theme even extends a special edition of The Globe crossword puzzle, with clues derived from Red Sox history.
Other items in the magazine include: a recap of the season seen through the columns of sports columnist Dan Shaughnessy, and how the years of coming so close made 2004 worth the wait, by sports columnist Bob Ryan.
In addition, the magazine offers a centerfold poster showing Babe Ruth as he finally leaves Boston for good, glove and bat over his shoulder.
Copies will be available to those outside the Globe circulation area by calling (617) 929-2226.
