'Boston Globe' In-House Health Clinic Falls Victim to Cost-Cutting

By: E&P Staff In its continuing efforts to lower expenses, the Boston Globe has closed its in-house health clinic.

In a memo to staffers Monday, the Globe said the clinic had closed and its functions such as providing flu shots, drug testing and wellness programs was being outsourced to AllOne Health. The closure was first reported on the Web site of Boston Business Journal by Craig M. Douglas.

The Journal reported the clinic's closing included the layoffs of three full-time employees and several part-time nurses.

"We regret the inconvenience this may cause," Chris Hall, the Globe's vice president of human resources wrote in the memo. "We will miss our friends in the medical department, who contributed so much to the Globe and its well-being."
