Posted
By: E&P Staff The Boston Globe Wednesday announced the launch of "GlobeReader," a new digital edition.

With "GlobeReader," the content of that day's Globe is downloaded to a subscriber's desktop, laptop, or notebook, in a format that resembles the look of the print version of the paper. A preview edition is currently available to Globe subscribers, and access to GlobeReader is included with all new subscriptions to the paper. In addition, GlobeReader users who are online can search for expanded features, like videos, slideshows and graphics, on the Globe's Web site, Boston.com.

"GlobeReader is another important step toward our goal of being able to publish The Boston Globe on whichever platform our readers and advertisers value, and builds on the success we?ve seen with other platforms such as mobile devices and Kindle," Susan Hunt Stevens, Globe senior vice president/digital said in a statement.

GlobeReader is powered by Adobe Flex and Adobe AIR, part of the Adobe Flash Platform. Globe subscribers who wish to check it out can go here.
