'Boston Globe' Names New Washington Bureau Chief

By: E&P Staff Christopher Rowland has been named Washington bureau chief for The Boston Globe. He has served as political editor for the last two years.

Rowland, 47, joined the Globe in 2001. In his early days at the paper he led the Globe's West bureau, and served as a business reporter covering healthcare issues. Before arriving at the Globe, Rowland was a state house reporter for The Providence (R.I.) Journal.

Rowland?s new title will be assistant managing editor/Washington. He succeeds Peter Canellos, who last week was named editorial page editor.

"This is a perfect job for Chris, and Chris is a perfect fit for the job," Globe editor Martin Baron wrote in a memo to the newsroom.
