BOSTON GLOBE TO KILL WEEKLY N.H. SECTION

In its latest cost-cutting response to the industry downturn,
The Boston Globe said it will stop publishing its weekly
New Hampshire news section June 24. In addition to the sluggish
economy, the paper said the move also reflects its ongoing focus
on building circulation in the suburbs of Greater Boston.

The 13-year-old New Hampshire Weekly is the first of six regional
sections published by the Globe. The Globe sells
about 28,000 copies daily and 46,600 copies on Sunday in New
Hampshire, but circulation has been declining and the section has
been losing money for the past few years, according to the paper.
The Globe said it will continue to run New Hampshire news
in its other regional sections.

The paper said it will close its New Hampshire bureau, which is
staffed by nine full-time and two part-time employees. The
Globe said it won't know how many of those staffers will
lose their jobs until a company-wide buyout is completed.
