By: The Brattleboro Reformer has named managing news editor Thomas D'Errico as its new editor.
D'Errico, who joined the newspaper in February, formerly worked as a copy editor at Eagle-Tribune Publishing in North Andover, Mass., and as features editor at The Recorder, in Greenfield, Mass.
He succeeds Sabina Haskell, who resigned to become spokeswoman for the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources earlier this month.
"I've been very impressed with Tom over the last eight months he's been here," said Reformer Publisher Martin Langeveld, who made the announcement yesterday. "He's gotten a quick understanding of the news environment in our area and brings with him a really well-rounded set of journalistic experiences."
D'Errico, who graduated from Keene State College in Keene, N.H., in May 2000, got to know the area while in college.
"Brattleboro is very important to me," he said. "It has all the benefits of being a small, local area, but it's not so rural that it's difficult to live comfortably. And Vermont is beautiful, from a natural and cultural standpoint."
