Brazilian Group Orders 5-Tower Goss Community SSC

By: E&P Staff Brazil's Grupo Sinos has ordered from Goss International a Goss Community SSC press after observing recent installations in Panama and Venezuela. The five four-high towers will increase color capacity so that all the group's publications can be printed in full color.

The shaftless Community SSC press will be configured with two folders. One tower will be dedicated to UV printing to deliver greater production flexibility. In addition to publishing its own titles, such as its flagship Jornal NH, Jornal VS, Diario de Canoas and ABC Domingo, Grupo Sinos prints approximately 60 local titles for other publishers. The two-folder configuration will allow more flexibility including, in conjunction with the UV capability, printing both coldset newspaper products and semi-commercial products.

A community user since 1968, the group "invested in this press again because we are impressed with how its continuous development has delivered advanced capabilities, reliability and operator-friendly features," Grupo Sinos Industrial Director Sergio Gusmao said in a statement.

Scheduled to ship next month, the Community press will be supplied with zero-speed splicers and NP600 infeeds for each tower, providing improved web guidance and tension.

Founded in 1957 by brothers Mario Alberto and Paulo Sergio Gusmao, Grupo Sinos started as a newspaper publisher and today owns several radio stations and provides regional Internet services.
