Brazilian Metro Buys net-linx Ad System

By: E&P Staff Sacramento-based net-linx has contracted to supply Folha de Londrina, in Parana, Brazil, with an nxAdvertising solution that will replace an old DOS-based CText system.

The privately owned daily metro approximately 300 miles West of Sao Paulo preferred a single-vendor approach to advertising, production, ad make-up AND Internet. While the project will start with nxAdvertising (50 Java clients), subsequent phases will implement a five-seat nxAdsmart system to manage graphics and display ad make-up. ALPS will be used for classified pagination.

Product and maintenance fees are bundled into monthly payments, a structure the publisher prefers, said net-linx said in announcing the sale.

The choice was made in part because of "a long association between staff at Folha de Londrina and the net-linx staff" in Belo Horizonte. All net-linx applications are Java applications, which appealed to the IT staff because it provided a common infrastructure across all subsystems and utilized modern Internet technologies across the board, according to net-linx.
