By: E&P Staff Canadian Media company Canwest's Calgary Herald in Alberta has gone live with the Atex advertising system. Canwest chose Atex to manage the Herald's accounts, bookings, and contract management functions, allowing the sales and marketing staff to create more flexible packages and sell advertising across different titles.
The Herald is the second Canwest newspaper to implement the Atex system (E&P Online, Aug. 27, 2007), following the Vancouver Sun's go-live last year. Previously, the publications used disparate advertising systems, which made efficient management difficult. The Atex system provides a single database for both papers, helping standardize the advertising workflow for ad booking, billing, and placement.
The project was completed in under seven months. The newspaper implemented selected classifications and is gradually transitioning the remaining classifications to the Atex system.
