LONDON: The head of London's Metropolitan Police Authority has been called on to resign after revelations a former News of the World executive arrested over the phone-hacking scandal worked as an adviser to Scotland Yard last year.
Neil Wallis, known to journalists as ''the wolf man'', was deputy editor of the paper at the height of its alleged phone-hacking phase but was paid to advise Sir Paul Stephenson, the Met commissioner, and John Yates, the assistant commissioner, during the time the force rejected calls to reopen the hacking probe. He has become the ninth person to be arrested over the scandal.
