Canadian Judge Orders Return of Art to Late Cartoonist's Family

Posted
By: E&P Staff A Superior Court judge in Canada ruled yesterday that more than 2,800 drawings by late cartoonist Ben Wicks must be returned to his family.

As a May 15 E&P story noted, the Wicks sketches had been left behind in a house sale 15 years ago. Members of the cartoonist's family went to court to try to get the artwork back in their possession. The person who found the sketches wanted to publish the drawings in a book and split the proceeds with the Wicks family.

Wicks, who died in 2000 at the age of 73, was known for work such as "The Outcasts" comic and magazine cartoons.
