By: E&P Staff The Cape Cod Times cleaned up at the New England Press Association awards on Saturday, taking home top honors of Newspaper of the Year and Web site of the Year. The Times totaled 25 awards, 10 of them first place.
This is the second newspaper of the year award for the Times this year. The New England Press Association judges praised all facets of the paper, from writing and photography to design. The Web site was recognized for its functionality and creativity including its community information and involvement, photo galleries, and easy navigation.
The Times won first place for environmental reporting, business and economic reporting, editorial page, infographics, illustration, living page, photo illustration, and media kit in addition to Top Newspaper and Web site.
It also took home 10 second-place awards for print-online convergence, headline writing, government reporting, pictorial photo, personality photo, investigative reporting, editorial writer, religion reporting, auto advertising campaign, and advertising campaign. It received five third-place honors for spot news, coverage of a racial or ethnic issue, arts and entertainment reporting, editorial supplement and feature photo.
