Capital Region Independent Media announces new executive editor, senior reporter

Capital Region Independent Media has announced the hiring of executive editor Melanie Lekocevic for the Ravena (New York) News-Herald and Greenville (New York) Pioneer and the promotion of Austin Crosier to the position of senior reporter at the newspaper group’s NYVT Media office in Granville, New York.

Melanie Lekocevic will oversee editorial content for the Ravena News-Herald and the Greenville Pioneer.

Formerly an editor at Columbia-Greene Media, based in Hudson, New York, Lekocevic has been a part-time editor for Capital Region Independent Media for three years.

Lekocevic is originally from New York City. She also was an editor at the Bronx Press-Review and Riverdale Review and has worked in broadcast journalism, public relations and corporate advertising. She has an M.B.A. from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, and a B.S. from Boston University.

Senior reporter Austin Crosier is a magna cum laude graduate of Castleton University in Castleton, Vermont, with a B.S. in communication with a concentration in journalism and a minor in history.

He has worked as a reporter since September 2020 for NYVT Media, a subdivision of Capital Region Independent Media. As a reporter, Crosier has written articles on topics ranging from the arrest of “Tiger King” star Timothy Lee Stark in Granville to a three-part series about Slate Ridge, a controversial shooting range in West Pawlet, Vermont, in addition to his regular Granville beat.

As a senior reporter, Crosier will continue to cover Granville and will take on added multimedia reponsibilities.
