Posted
By: Jim Rosenberg A newspaper carrier believed to be working for the Centre Daily Times, in State College, Pa., according to State Police, alerted authorities to a fire of unknown cause that killed one person after midnight Wednesday at a remote site near Bellefonte, in central Pennsylvania.

The Progress, based in Clearfield, Pa., reports today that an unnamed carrier told state police he saw the fire from several miles away at about 2:15 AM. Firefighters sent to the suspected location found nothing, and the night's fierce snowstorm impeded their search. More than three hours later a neighbor found a nearby cabin burnt and notified its owner.

A person believed to be a relative of the owner was killed in the fire, according to police.
