By: E&P Staff Cars.com announced this morning that it will exclusively power the used vehicle classified listings on MSN Autos, beginning in June. Chicago-based cars.com describes the partnership as a "multi-million dollar deal" the spans three years.
The announcement follows a similar distribution deal signed in January between cars.com and Kelley Blue Book. A spokeswoman for cars.com said that once the partnership with MSN goes live, cars.com advertisers will have access to the most used car shoppers online.
Through partnerships with 175 newspapers, TV stations, Web sites, cars.com dealers and private party advertisers, cars.com has over 500,000 used car listings.
Once the deal is in place, cars.com will effectively reach two out of every three used-car shoppers, said cars.com President Mitch Golub.
Cars.com is a division of Classified Ventures LLC, owned jointly by Belo, Gannett Co. Inc., Knight Ridder, The McClatchy Co., Tribune Co., and The Washington Post Co.
