Cartoon Museum Hosting 'Little Nemo' Event

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Cartoon Art Museum of San Francisco will mark the 100th anniversary of Winsor McCay's classic "Little Nemo in Slumberland" comic on Oct. 15.

That day, the museum is hosting editor/historian Peter Maresca for a presentation and book-signing of "Little Nemo in Slumberland -- Splendid Sundays," which includes full-size reproductions of the elaborately drawn strips McCay created from 1905 to 1910.

McCay's drawing skills were so highly regarded that his comic was exhibited in both the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and the Louvre in Paris during the 1960s. The cartoonist was also a pioneer in the field of animation.
