By: E&P Staff The fall 2006 opening of The National Cartoon Museum in New York City's Empire State Building has been bumped until at least early 2007.

Founded in Connecticut in 1974, the museum was situated in Boca Raton, Fla., for six years before closing in 2002. The museum -- which has a collection of about 200,000 original cartoons -- was started by "Beetle Bailey" creator Mort Walker of King Features Syndicate.

The Empire State Building version of the museum has a new advisory board that includes -- among others -- "Mutts" creator Patrick McDonnell of King, "Doonesbury" creator Garry Trudeau of Universal Press Syndicate, and editorial cartoonist Matt Davies of The Journal News in White Plains, N.Y., and Tribune Media Services.
