Cartoonist Conrad's Sculptures at Calif. Museum

By: E&P Staff Bronze sculptures by editorial cartoonist Paul Conrad are being displayed at "The Artists' Studio Gallery at The Avenue of the Peninsula" in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.

The six-week exhibit runs through May 21, according to the Los Angeles Times, where Conrad was formerly a staff cartoonist. The newspaper noted that Conrad has sculpted figures such as George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, John F. Kennedy, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, Richard Nixon, and Ronald Reagan. Some of the sculptures are not flattering, such as a depiction of Clinton as literally two-faced and one of Bush consisting of little else but boots and a cowboy hat.

Conrad, 81, plans a second sculpture of the current president. "I'm going to do Bush naked, standing there and wearing a crown," he told the Times. "The emperor has no clothes."

Cartoons by the three-time Pulitzer Prize winner continue to be syndicated by Tribune Media Services.
