By: Dave Astor Green Bay (Wis.) Press-Gazette editorial cartoonist Joe Heller has created an Internet slideshow about the Green Bay Packers' season.
The Packers had a great year before losing in overtime Jan. 20 to the Giants, who went on to win the Super Bowl yesterday -- when the slideshow was posted.
"I was looking for a way to mark the end of the Green Bay Packers' season, and quarterback Brett Favre naturally came to mind," Heller said in an e-mail. "Favre's history-making year -- breaking numerous NFL records and having fun doing it at age 38 -- became the basis for my 'This Old Man' parody on Favre and the Packers' 2007 season."
Heller added that he drew 18 cartoons (in 10 days) for the slideshow, which features a four-minute song sung by his daughter Chelsea. "It was great to draw about something other than the usual politics, war, or economic woes," he said.
The cartoonist has self-syndicated via Heller Syndication for 25 years. He has more than 325 newspaper clients, of which about two-thirds are dailies and one-third are weeklies.
