Cartoonist Joe Martin's Syndicate Offering Animated Comics

By: E&P Staff Neatly Chiseled Features (NCF) is offering animated comics to newspaper Web sites.

NCF is the syndicate founded by Joe Martin, creator of the comics "Mr. Boffo," "Willy 'n Ethel," "Cats With Hands," and "On the Edge."

Martin told E&P that his plans for animation were "the main reason I formed my own syndicate a year ago." He added that animated comics are a great way to attract more young readers to newspaper sites.

In addition to providing animated versions of Martin's work, NCF is also offering animation services to established syndicated cartoonists.

Animation is rare among newspaper comics, but animated efforts have recently been launched by several editorial cartoonists.
