Wednesday that prolific cartoonist/blogger Marshall Ramsey would possibly post his 3,000th blog entry today, it was being too pessimistic. The 3,000th post appeared last night at 9:15 p.m.
Ramsey, who launched his blog only 14 months ago, said in the post that baseball commissioner "Bud Selig debated whether to come and watch this milestone. He turned it down. My computer won't be going to the Hall of Fame. No flashbulbs will be going off (do people even use flashbulbs anymore?). There will be no video from Hank Aaron. Three thousand is just a number. And this is just another blog entry. (I had hired the Swedish Elf Choir to provide festive entertainment, but they missed their connection in Atlanta.)
"This won't be long. Or flashy. I just have two words to say to all of you -- thank you. This blog could be a ball and chain, another thing to eat up hours of my workday. But it's not. It has become a community. Because of you. Thanks for making this fun for me."
Ramsey creates his
editorial cartoons and blog for The Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Miss. The two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist is syndicated by Copley News Service.
