By: E&P Staff "The Norm" creator Michael Jantze is at the Cannes Film Festival today speaking with possible buyers for his first animated short.

Jantze's four-minute "Mr. Lux: At Your Service" was accepted into the festival's "Short Film Corner."

The cartoonist said "Mr. Lux," which uses both "pencil-to-paper animation" and computer software, stars a character who "is only happy when he delivers five-star service to his hotel guests."

Jantze -- who was formerly syndicated by King Features -- created the animation as part of a team that also included David Andrews, Kelly McNutt, Jory K. Prum, and Jared Emerson-Johnson. Nicole Jantze was executive producer.

The short can be viewed here.

As E&P reported April 23, Jantze Studios also did an animation promoting a "Zits" book collection by Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman of King. And JS partners with businesses on various new-media projects.

How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
