Cartoonist Sends Himself to Guantanamo Bay

Posted
By: Political commentary made a rare appearance in today's "Pearls Before Swine" comic by Stephan Pastis of United Media.

In the strip's first panel, the Rat character reads a letter from President Bush that says: "Yours is the best strip in The Washington Post. If possible, could you name one of the characters 'George'?" Rat replies: "No ... we can't ... and what are you gonna do about it?" Then, in the last panel, Rat says: "Our next letter is from Stephan Pastis, of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba." Referring, of course, to the prison set up by the Bush administration for people it claims may be terrorists.

A United spokesperson said none of the 200 "Pearls Before Swine" newspaper clients had complained to the syndicate about today's comic.
