Cartoonist Speaks Out Against 'Vertical' Animal Traps

Posted
By: E&P Staff "Mutts" cartoonist Patrick McDonnell and the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) today asked the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to abandon proposed regulations that would place some animal traps above ground.

"I urge new DEC Commissioner Pete Grannis not to adopt the proposed 'vertical' trapping regulations which cruelly allow trapped animals to dangle in the air, but instead to institute trap-free buffer zones along trails to keep children and pets safe," said McDonnell, a member of HSUS' board of directors.

"Mutts" appears in more than 700 newspapers via King Features Syndicate.
