By: E&P Staff Political cartoonists both liberal and conservative are weighing in on what President Bush's departure means to them, on Michael Cavna's "Comic Riffs" blog at washingtonpost.com.
Today, top cartoonists from Southern newspapers -- The Atlanta Journal-Constitution?s Mike Luckovich and The Birmingham (Ala.) News? Scott Stantis -- bemoan Bush?s exit.
?Part of what I"ll miss is the liberal reaction to my Bush cartoons,? Stantis tells the blog. ?From a [conservative] cartoonist's perspective, I found that it confused readers when I eventually did some anti-Bush cartoons, especially on civil liberties.?
Luckovich, who pulls no punches, replies, ?I'm going to miss W. because he was such an insecure phony. ... This is harsh, but I believe his arrogance and his ability to be in denial over the messes he created shows he's missing some fundamental part of his humanity.?
