Cartoonist's Novel Optioned for Film

By: E&P Staff Deviant Films has optioned the "Small Apartments" novel by Chris Millis, an assistant to "Close to Home" cartoonist John McPherson of Universal Press Syndicate.

Co-producing the feature movie will be Bridget McMeel and John Glynn of AMUSE, the Universal division that brings comics and other properties to Hollywood.

The film's producers from Deviant and Silver Nitrate Entertainment have previously been involved with offbeat movies such as "Buffalo 66," "The Virgin Suicides," and "American Psycho."

Universal described "Small Apartments" as an "offbeat, darkly comic tale of profound underachievement set in Buffalo's working-class west side."
