'Cartoons & Cocktails' Fundraiser Coming Next Week

By: E&P Staff The 21st annual "Cartoons & Cocktails" fundraiser will be held Oct. 23 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

"Inviting" people to the event are NPC President Sylvia Smith and Investor's Business Daily/Creators News Service editorial cartoonist Michael Ramirez, the 2008 Pulitzer Prize winner.

The evening includes a silent auction and live auction of cartoons, and appearances by cartoonists who'll draw for attendees.

Money will be raised for "Young D.C." (the independent newspaper by and for teenagers), Cartoonists Rights Network International (which assists creators who are persecuted for their commentary), and the NPC's Eric Friedheim Library, awards, and scholarship programs.

The event was mentioned on Mike Rhode's ComicsDC blog.
