By: Amid circulation scandals at Newsday and Hoy, the Tribune Co. announced late yesterday that it has named Vincent Casanova to the newly created position of vice president of circulation at Tribune Publishing.
Casanova will be responsible for overall circulation, sales, service, and distribution for the company, including "accuracy and integrity of reported circulation results," according to a statement.
"This move to a full time group executive role is a natural extension of the leadership Vince has demonstrated coordinating key circulation activities across our newspapers in recent months," said Scott Smith, Tribune Publishing COO, in a statement. "In addition, Vince's expertise in marketing, distribution and solid controls will be a great resource as we continue to develop quality circulation with highly responsive readership."
Casanova most recently served as vice president/circulation and consumer marketing for the Chicago Tribune, a position he has held since 1991. Casanova also becomes president of the board of the Newspaper Association of America's Circulation Federation and will serve on the joint NAA/ABC Liaison committee.
Casanova starts his new position immediately.
