By: Staff Reports 25% Of Staff Let Go
(The Hollywood Reporter) CBS Internet Group has let go a
quarter of its staff amid shifting upper-management ranks
brought about by new chief operating officer Lisa Simpson, a
company insider confirmed.
Simpson, who recently left her position as head of Sony Online
Entertainment, has hired several of her former Sony
colleagues, including Robert Gehorsam and Mark Kortekaas, who
will join CBS Internet Group as a senior vice president and as
chief technology officer, respectively.
'As with all transitions, there comes a time when an
organization must endure a certain amount of upheaval,' CBS
told employees in an internal memo explaining the layoffs. CBS
Internet Group reportedly laid off about 25% of its staff of
about 100 people.
CBS Internet Group was created this year to house the
company's portfolio of investments in online start-ups, some
bearing the eye's name, such as CBS MarketWatch and CBS
SportsLine, and others that have a less obvious tie to the
network, such as Jobs.com and Wrenchead.com.
