By: E&P Staff Getty Images last night launched an initiative called "Change Me."
The program is a partnership with actor/activist Richard Gere and the organization Friends of the Global Fight Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
People can participate in "Change Me" by visiting an
area of the Getty Images site, selecting an image, and describing "why they feel the image has the power to change perceptions." For each submission, Getty Images will donate $10 to Friends of the Global Fight.
Also, submissions may appear as part of a traveling worldwide exhibition and may be published in a book.
In a statement, Gere said AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria "are all too easy to put out of our minds, but 'Change Me' uses powerful images to create an experience of personal reflection and commitment to change."
