By: E&P Staff Charles L. Cacelli, a retail sales representative for the Chicago Tribune for 28 years, died Aug. 7, the paper recently reported. He was 61 years old.
A Chicago native, Cacelli joined the Navy at age 17, and served a four-year tour of duty in Vietnam as a petty officer. The Tribune stated that after his return home, Cacelli worked a variety of jobs, including technical illustration, sales representation for a Chicago-area radio station, and consultation for advertising and marketing, the latter of which he ran out of his home.
In 1978, four years after receiving his bachelor?s degree in business from Northern Illinois University, Cacelli joined the Tribune as a classified ads representative for the Suburban Trib of Hinsdale, Ill. He soon was promoted to a retail sales rep position, one that he kept for the remainder of his career.
Cacelli is survived by his sister, Barbara Olsen, and two nephews, James and Charles Olsen, according to the Tribune.
