By: E&P Staff Charles Hammer has been appointed president and publisher of the Asheville (N.C.) Citizen-Times. He succeeds Jeffrey Green who resigned.
Hammer was most recently vice president/audience and content at The Courier-Journal in Louisville, Ky.
"Randy's rich background in the newspaper industry has made him a valuable asst to our company," Sue Clark-Johnson, president of Gannett's newspaper division, said in a statement. "Stepping him up to president and publisher is a great move for him and Gannett."
Hammer also served as executive editor at the Pensacola (Fla.) News Journal and the Springfield (Mo.) News-Leader. He began his newspaper career as a sports writer.
