Charles T. Brumback, Former Tribune Co. CEO, Dies at 86

Charles T. Brumback, known for his blunt demeanor and innovative approach to business, helped bring the Chicago Tribune into the computer age as CEO of first the newspaper and then Tribune Co. in the 1980s and early '90s.

Brumback, 86, died Jan. 12 in an assisted living center in Winter Park, Fla., said his son Charles Brumback Jr. He had been in declining health since suffering a stroke in 2007, his son said.
