By: Alan Sayre, AP Business Writer (AP) Pierre Manigault has been named chairman of the board of Evening Post Publishing Co., parent company of The Post and Courier and other newspapers and television stations.
Manigault, 42, replaces his father, Peter Manigault, who died June 14.
Peter Manigault had served as chairman of the board since 1984, when he replaced his father, Edward Manigault.
Pierre Manigault graduated from Southern Methodist University and joined The Post and Courier as an editorial writer in 1994 after working at The Washington Post and the National Geographic Society.
He was named president of Evening Post Community Publications Group in 1998, was elected vice chairman of the board in 2003 and was named chairman on July 26.
Ivan V. Anderson Jr. remains president and CEO of the company.
Evening Post Publishing owns five daily newspapers and 11 weeklies in South Carolina, North Carolina and Texas and 10 TV stations in Arizona, Colorado, Kentucky, Louisiana, Montana and Texas. The company also owns an international features syndicate in London and large tracts of forest lands.
