Chattanooga Alt-Paper 'The Pulse' Sold to Local Radio Operator

By: E&P Staff Brewer Media Group, which owns four radio stations in the Chattanooga, Tenn., market, has bought the local alternative weekly The Pulse.

Terms of the purchase from Culture Systems LLC were not disclosed.

"The Pulse gives us a newsprint presence on the streets in more than 240 distribution points all over Chattanooga," said Brewer Media President Jim Brewer II in a statement. "Its unique position as Chattanooga's Alternative Weekly is a powerful addition."

In addition to its radio stations, Brewer Media own the Chattanooga Traffic Network, and niche Web sites including www.ChattanoogaHasCars.com, www.ChattanoogaHasTravel.com, and www.ChattanoogaHasFun.com.

Zack Cooper, co-owner with Michel Kull of Culture Systems, will remain as the paper's publisher.
