Chattanooga Newspaper Editor Says Reporters Were Mistreated By 'Nazi Cops'; Police Chief and Sheriff Disagree

Chattanooga Times Free Press Executive Editor J. Todd Foster says in a memo to staff members that a female reporter and another staff member had to deal with "Nazi cops" during recent tornado coverage.

Bud Jackson, attorney for the newspaper, sent letters to officials over the matter, including one to Chattanooga Police Chief Bobby Dodd, Sheriff Jim Hammond and County Emergency Services Director Don Allen.

He said the First Amendment news-gathering rights of reporter/photographer Kate Harrison were violated and she was threatened with arrest.
