By: E&P Staff The Rapid City (S.D.) Journal has named Rosanne Cheeseman its new publisher. She will replace Bill Masterson Jr., who will now be publisher of The Times in Munster, Ind.
For the past two years, Cheeseman was the vice president of sales and marketing for the Journal?s parent company Lee Enterprises, based in Davenport, Iowa.
She began her career in 1986 with the Edgerton (Wis.) Reporter and Directions Publishing in Wisconsin. In 1995, she became regional manager for Insiders Publishing, and was later promoted to advertising director. In 1998 she joined Lee Enterprises as advertising director and associate publisher for the North County Times in Escondido, Calif.
In her new role, Cheeseman will be in charge of operations for the Journal?s affiliated weekly publications including the Lawrence County Journal in Spearfish, S.D., the Belle Fourche (S.D.) Post and Bee, the Meade County Times-Tribune and Black Hills Press in Sturgis, S.D, the Hot Springs (S.D.) Star, the Valley Irrigator in Newell, S.D., and The Chadron (Neb.) Record.
Masterson has been the publisher of the Journal since 2000. Prior to that, he had been publisher of the Black Hills Pioneer based in Spearfish, S.D., since 1998. Previously, he served in various positions for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, the Colorado Springs (Colo.) Sun, and The Manhattan (Kansas) Mercury.
