By: Officials at a suburban Chicago high school have pulled a story from the student newspaper over concerns about an article on prescription drugs.
On Friday, the award-winning newspaper of Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire will have a blank page and editor's note instead of a story quoting a student who was taking birth controls to control her menstrual cycle.
The skirmish prompted concerns over censorship. Dozens attended a Thursday evening school board meeting.
Eighteen-year-old Pamela Selman, the editor, says students felt bullied and censorship is teaching a bad journalism.
Board president Bruce Lubin says the administration has allowed students to write critical articles in the past, but says it isn't appropriate to publish private student information.
