Chicago J-Hall Of Fame Inducts City News Bureau Vet, 'S-T' & 'Trib' Journos

By: E&P Staff Ten journalists will be inducted into the Chicago Hall of Fame next month, including the long-time City News Bureau Editor Paul Zimbrakos who was the last head of the renamed City News Service when it was shut down last New Year's Eve.

The hall of fame, operated by the International Press Club of Chicago is inducting two active staffers from the Chicago Tribune, fashion writer Genevieve Buck and investigative reporter Maurice Possley.

Two active staffers are being inducted from the Chicago Sun-Times, Business Editor Dan Miller and City Hall reporter Fran Spielman.

Abe Peck, chairman of the magazine department at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, will also be inducted at a dinner to be held June 23. Peck, a former Sun-Times and Chicago Daily News reporter, is a former associate and contributing editor of Rolling Stone.

Honored posthumously will be John O'Keefe and Ed DeLuga of the old Daily News, and Arnie Harris, a long-time producer of Chicago Cubs baseball games for WGN-TV.

Sun-Times reporter Cheryl L. Reed will be honored with the first Arnie Matanky Memorial Award for reporting on veterans affairs.
