'Chicago Tribune' Drops Contracts For Remote Printing

Posted
By: Mark Fitzgerald The Chicago Tribune this spring will end remote printing of its Midwest edition this spring, as it shrinks its distribution area, the newspaper confirmed Friday.

The Trib's Midwest edition has been printed by Capital Newspapers in Madison, Wisc., and The News Gazette in Champaign, Ill.

Tribune spokesman Michael Dizon said the paper will continue the Midwest edition, which will be printed at its Freedom Center production plant in Chicago.

"The Chicago Tribune will continue to be available in many areas throughout Illinois and neighboring states," Dizon said. "This change will result in cost savings for the company and a sharpened focus on the primary distribution area of the newspaper."
